Super Update: Newt Gingrich has also failed to properly submit his application for the Virginia Primary. Only former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and Texas Congressman Ron Paul now qualify for the Virginia vote.

Update: Apparently Rick Perry failed to correctly apply to be on the ballot so he has also been disqualified from further rounds.

In a move which should surprise literally no one, candidates for the GOP presidential nomination Michelle Bachmann, Jon Huntsman, and Rick Santorum have decided to throw in the towel. The deadline to register for the Virginia primary was met today with these three contenders’ names missing. Unless it is possible to win the presidency with such disrespect to Virginia, we can safely assume that they are backing out of the race.

We can now predict who these political heavyweights (read: nobodies) will endorse. Jon Huntsman being one of the only reasonable candidates in the running will most likely support Ron Paul, who is running a campaign with a similar message of reason. Bachmann and Santorum however will likely throw their support behind Mitt Romney, not because they agree with his views as they obviously don’t, but because that’s what they have been scripted to do from the very beginning. This will likely continue to backfire and draw support away from Romney rather than bring people to his camp, considering both of them have bashed Romney plenty in the past, but now have to choose between him and Paul. Letting people decide for themselves instead of letting the government decide for you is just not something Bachmann and Santorum can comprehend. A dangerous world we live in when people who are seriously trying to run the country have such little faith in themselves that they must have laws in place to prevent them from being bad people.

Currently Ron Paul continues to lead the race and is steadily expanding his lead beyond Willard Romney (yea that’s his real name). Newt Gingrich continues to sink his own ship, while Rick Perry continues to fail to make news at all anymore.
