YouTube Round Up: SNES

YouTube Round Up is an infrequently posted feature where we show off some of our favorite YouTube videos.

This video is awesome. Basically it proves that news organizations, parents, and generally everyone over the age of 40 (at the time) just don’t understand video games, regardless of the era in which the games debuted. It’s embedded in the post below.

The idiot news guy is driving in reverse for most of the time he’s playing, despite the fact that it’s pretty much screaming at him that he’s driving the wrong way.

The therapist in the beginning of the video is clearly saying that the blame for video game addiction should be on the heads of the companies who make the game, not on the parents who buy the games and let their kids play them. Pretty much stupid. If a company wants to sell something, it has no responsibility for how that thing is used and shouldn’t be responsible for what happens as a result of misuse. If a person wants to use a Nintendo as a babysitter, it is their responsibility to make sure that their kids stop playing at appropriate times. This is some of the reason I will never have kids.

Also, it just seems like news organizations are only focused on the negative aspects of new things. As a writer for this site, I know it is a lot easier to write a negative take on something than a positive one, but come on, news. Just cause the SNES is coming out that doesn’t mean it’s Satan coming to steal your babies.
